The Last Two Weeks of Adventures

The last two weekends were busy one for us.  On Saturday 9/7, we went to a 1st birthday party for our friends little girl Vivian.  Lilah had a blast with all the kids there.  The parents got a fisher price bouncy house and the kids went gaga over it.  Lilah was bouncing everywhere and giggling the whole time.  Vivian, Rodger, and Amelia got their own time as well but they were not as into it.  I got to play with Rodger and Connor (Khalia’s baby) and they got their first taste of cake.  They both fully approved of it.

We also managed to get a lot of yogurt so we were extremely happy but not so much considering our fridge looks like a grocery store of yogurt (that’s what we get when two people individually go and buy yogurt for the house).  But at least we have enough until October 24!  Later on in the evening, David’s parents went with us for a walk and to go to Jimmy Cone for ice cream.  They had a classic car show then as well.  Lilah was telling us all about the different cars that were there.  After that, we went to Michelle and John’s house for pizza, and Lilah and Jonathan played with each other.

On Sunday 9/8, we took the family, David’s Mother, and Jonathan to Larriland’s for apple picking (or rather we got David’s mama to drive us and back because she has a bigger vehicle).  Lilah and Jonathan had so much fun picking apples though they needed a little assistance in picking the ripe ones.  We also scored some peaches too!  This weekend, I’m going to make some pies and cobbler because we have so much!

Here are some pictures of the little pickers!

Last night was interesting because Lilah and I went out in the evening to go to the playground.  David got to play with Rodger because he normally does not get a lot of together time with him.  So, Lilah and I went to the playground and then she decided we needed to go to Food Lion (which is right behind our house).  At Food Lion, Lilah took off.  She was running everywhere and waving to everyone.  Eventually, she got tired of running (like a half an hour into it) and then she would lie on the floor then start dragging herself across it with her hands.  When I tried to pick her up to not to that, she would go back to running, and then lie down again to pull herself with her arms.  After that, we went home to discover that David and Rodger had fallen asleep.  So, Lilah and I went upstairs and gave her a bath.  She is getting better about getting her hair washed but she still throws a fit.

Lilah has lately not wanted to go bed at night.  She cries until I bring her into bed and gets some more snuggle time and then put her back.

Here are some pictures of Miss Running Star!!!!

And here she is when she's tired of running and starts dragging herself across the floor.

This past weekend was interesting too.  On Friday, Lilah had her first dentist appointment with Rock Ridge Dentistry.  The dentist could not do more than brush her teeth and could not clean them with the other instruments.  But she was calm the whole time it happened, they even had movies picked out for her and she got to watch Cinderella while that happened.  The dentist said her 2 year old molars were coming through, and once those come through she would have all her teeth.  David was next on the appointment list (mine is 2 weeks away).  They also had a play room with a train table and Lilah was infatuated with it.

After appointments, we went to Burger King where Lilah and Jonathan played for 2 hours and had a blast.  Later on, we went to Michelle and John’s house for dinner and had tacos.

Saturday was interesting.  David’s dad Walt did me a favor and distracted David by taking him to an auction.  You might ask yourself why in the world I needed David distracted.  Well…it was his BIRTHDAY!!!!!

So, after Lilah’s dance class, I picked up Rodger from Carol (she was nice enough to watch him during dance).  Then we went to Columbia Mall to get one of David’s favorite desserts…cookie cake.  But it wasn’t any old cookie cake, oh no.  This one had a big truck on it and they wrote 28 on the truck and underneath it was Happy Birthday David.  I also managed to get a birthday present for him without him noticing because I had it delivered to his sister’s house.  I really need to go through some effort to hide it from him (it’s more difficult because we have the same work schedule and we’re together most of the time.)

Luckily, the church next to his parents’ house (where we were having his birthday party) was having a barbeque chicken dinner.  So, no one had to cook dinner!!  But Michelle was sweet enough to make an apple pie and ice cream for dessert.

On Sunday, we went to Centennial Park for a bit.  Then we went to Roots Market, and then to my cousin Pam’s.  It was really nice seeing her and Lilah had a good time with her cousins.

One development in the past three weeks is that Rodger is crawling!!!!

Here is a video of it.

He also says “Mama” which is his first word.  Now, I normally would just think he was saying it because he associates it with food, but whenever he screams it he starts flailing his arms to me until I pick him up.  He will not do this for anyone else.  So, that makes me feel a little extra special and I get all tingly.  Now I’m about to cry because he is growing up too fast.  He will also walk around if he holds on you to balance.

Lilah is such a character and she has this spunky personality on her that reminds everyone of me.  I thought I was the easy-going baby until I learned the truth.  Then I learned that Lilah is my mini-me.  But she has gotten so sweet and her understanding of everything is phenomenal.  It is really interesting to see her development and see her grow with everything.  She can now count to 14!  I’m seeing her say letters and even some words.  We figured this year we would get her some learning toys for her.

Dance class went much better this week.  The first week the teacher held her the whole time.  But this week the teacher grabbed her and brought her in the classroom.  It really got to me because she was crying when she went in.  Afterwards, she came out with a Kung Fu Panda sticker and she was very proud of it.  She is the youngest one in her class but she is the same height or taller than the other girls.  I really do have a little amazon on my hands.

Here is a video from a couple of months back of her in a bouncy house.

This week's updates....

So, this has been interesting.  It has been a never ending search for yogurt at Weis.  They are having a sale for the Yocrunch yogurt Lilah and I like (it’s the bigger container so more yogurt less candy).  Weis has been consistently out of it!!!!  Oh well, at least we have 3 more days off to get it.  But we did get a rain check so I will check again today and if not I will get another rain check.  Over the weekend, we did not do much because Lilah got food poisoning so she was getting over that.  For some reason in the last two nights, she does not want to sleep in her crib and wants to be in Mommy’s and Daddy’s bed.  Last night, I gave her some medicine because she felt warm and she slept through the night.  But this morning…She was ready to go!  Even at 5am!!!  In combination with Rodger’s 4am wake time every morning is just delightful.  But it’s not so bad getting them to the car, Lilah and Rodger both are having some cuddly moments this week.  Over the weekend, we toasted my brother Brodie’s birthday!!!!  But he doesn’t celebrate his one day…oh no…it’s the whole month of August!  So, we got his favorite beer, Guinness,  and toasted to his birthday!

Here is a picture of that!!

While cleaning up my father Charlie’s house a couple of weeks ago we found some baby pictures of him.  This is the first time I ever saw him as a baby so it was interesting seeing the family features (he really looked a lot like Grandma at the time).

Here are a couple of pictures from that ^_^

Tonight, we're making honey cake for Rosh Hashanah!!!!!  So, good.
