Yesterday

Yesterday was a good day for Lilah.  When I picked her up from daycare I walk in to her escaping into the kitchen.  Sarah was telling me how she escapes from anything now.  David and I taught her to say “no no” when she wants to do something she shouldn’t.  So, she scolds what she wants to do and runs away from it.  She also has this habit of kicking when changing her diaper because she thinks it’s funny, and she would like to be diaper less all the time.  Dana told me how she was changing her diaper and Lilah said to her “no no” and Dana was surprised when she did that.  She also has been picking up a smaller child named Lindsay who is 10 months old and helping her walk around the room.  When Lindsay’s mom comes to pick her up, Lilah buckles her in her car seat but she has not figured out how to tighten it yet.

When we got home, she had a good time with snacks and then proceeded to tackle David.  Her Daddy is the most entertaining ride in the house and she gave him a big kiss after.  Then she tackled him again to give him a hug.  She had a pretty good night but she woke up at 12:00am and stayed awake until 2:00am.  When I dropped her off at daycare today she did not want to be dropped off and snuggled me until she went to Dana.  She should have a good day today because they are going to carve pumpkins and she likes to play with them.  The battle with the pacifier is still not over but we’ve got her down to nap times.  Soon, we’re going to take it away for good!  We still haven't decided if we should do it now or after the baby comes and wait for her to get use to the new baby.

Recent Events

Lilah recently had her doctor’s appointment and she was 32.5 inches long and 25 1/2 lbs.  She was close to 80% in height and 75% in weight.  I think she is gearing up for a growth spurt though because her thighs get really chunky and thin out (she is currently at the chunky stage) and she has been really tired lately.  We did not do much on Friday because it was rainy but on Saturday we went to get Lilah’s bedrails to make her crib into a toddler bed.  We are going to wait a while longer though because she just does not seem ready yet.  She will show signs that she is and then back them up.  I think we are going to hold off for a while until the new baby is a few months old so she won’t be too insecure.  While we picked up her things from Burlington Coat Factory in Frederick, we went to lunch at Outback.  They give you a roll of pumpernickel bread at the beginning and we cut some off and buttered it for Lilah.  Lilah decided she didn’t want the slice but when for the rest of the roll.

Here is a perfect picture of Lilah with the bread.

Later that night, we decided to cut up one of the pumpkins that we got from Larriland Farms the week before to make pumpkin cookies.  That was a disaster that took most of the night because we didn’t know how to correctly puree it (it’s not just blend it up either) and it took a while to do it.  If we decide to do it again, we will just cut it up, blend it, and leave it in a strainer with coffee filters overtop a bowl so all the water can drain out.  Some directions online were telling us to use a cheese cloth and press the water out of it.  But we were definitely happy that we decided to do that on a Saturday because Sunday morning the pumpkin had a bunch of water come out of it.  Lilah definitely wanted to help out but she thought it would be more fun to throw it on the floor.

On Sunday, we went to a family reunion where Lilah terrorized her 3 year old cousin Nicholas (he wanted nothing to do with her and she thought he was awesome).  Lilah had a great time though and played with everyone.  The reunion was at a park with a great playground and an animal farm.  But Lilah was not interested much in the playground but she loved the animal farm.  Every time we put her down she took off for the farm.  She thought all the animals were awesome but was upset that she couldn’t pet them.

Lately, Lilah and David are putting me to bed so Lilah will go in her crib (I sneak out after she goes down but I have to be under the covers).  When she tucks me in she’s been petting me on the head and then she says goodnight to her little brother and kisses him goodnight.

Here is a picture of Lilah getting on her truck to try and ride it.

Trip to Larriland this week

Lilah had a fieldtrip with her daycare this week to Larriland Farms.  They all went apple picking, went through a haunted house, and played at the petting zoo.  Lilah had so much with all the kids and the animals.  She was extremely helpful apple picking but she wanted to lick the apples.  She also had a fun time at the haunted house and she waved to all the ghosts and trolls.  She even gave one of the people a hug who was pretending to be a ghost.

Her favorite thing to do was the petting zoo though and she was so helpful feeding them.  Lilah took some of the food given out and ran to a goat and shoved it in his face trying to feed him.

Here are some pictures of her trying to play with the goats.

She loved them so much she wanted to climb the fence to take one home with her.  Luckily, Dana and Sarah did not allow her to get very far.

During the evening at home, Lilah was so helpful giving my cell phone.  She handed it right to me and said "It's for you."  She is really coming along on her speech but at daycare her and Major have their own language (they are like twins!)

Lilah's Trip to Walmart and Ride Home

Lilah and I took a trip to Walmart on Monday and picked out a new dog bed with her stamp of approval.  She had a blast at Wally World and tuckered herself out.

Here is a picture of Lilah taking a ride in the dog bed.

She now shoo's the dogs out of it just to rest in it.  She thinks it's the most thing in the world.  But her and Emma will lay in it together cuddled up.

Here is a picture from the ride home yesterday from daycare.

We have her checkup on Friday and that should go well, and we have my OB checkup after that.
We recently had my 20 week ultrasound and we have a very healthy baby!  Everything is matching up to the due date.  So February 19th is a go!
Here is the info on development.  The baby is about 11.5 inches long and 12.5 ounces.
